Finishing First

It may be a bit unusual to begin my first post already talking about finishing, but the truth of the matter is that everything begins where something else ends. A new chapter only starts when you finish the current one, a new day begins as the night ends, and a website begins when the process of building it finishes. Obviously there's some overlap, where something has ended but nothing new has begun, or something has begun and the old hasn't ended, as anyone with a folder full of unfinished writing can attest, but today marks the beginning of a new chapter in my own life, one in which I intend Works In Progress to be a central thread. I've worked a few temporary positions at various marketing and media companies since I finished my studies, but I'm shifting gears before I become too immersed in the world of marketing to create opportunities for my primary pursuit: original, creative content writing.

This site will serve as a gallery of various projects and works in progress that I'll be sharing with you all as I go, and as a hub for me to manage my services in a way that caters specifically to what I have to offer. This is going to be my own little corner of the internet to create, experiment, and build a community.

So, while this is just the start of my journey as a freelance writer, it marks the end of a long period of learning and preparation. Am I entirely ready to go it alone? Probably not, but I'm not going to wait forever, so here's to learning on the job.
